Amalie and the family reunion

img_0734.jpgWe took Amalie on her first trip down to the mainland all the way to the deep, deep Southland over Easter.

She traveled about with her cousin Patrick which she loved immensely.

She went first to Dunedin, where she visited the beautiful township of Port Chalmers, and the sleepy village of Aramoana, where she got into a giggle fit with Patrick to the amusement of all.

Then she was chauffeured down via Gore and Invercargill to Riverton, the riveria of the deep south, a beautiful fishing villiage on Foveaux Straight, where the Frew-Lyon reunion was held.

There she met many close and distant relatives, discovered she was the youngest at the party, as well as learning about her baby double, the lax liquor law enforcements on Easter Friday and how to pick a third place getting horse at the Riverton Races. (pity she bid to win).

Having filled up on yarns, tales, and general babbling she headed back to Dunedin where she went and checked out the Albatross colony at Taiaroa Heads, saw one soaring about but was more interested in eating her own feet.

All in all Amalie says it was a good trip away and the weather was un-seasonally fine and warm.
